SHS student who took exeat to visit ‘sick’ grandmother in Keta found dead after visiting boyfriend

  A teenage girl has been found dead in a stream at Tomefa in the Ga South Municipality after taking exeat from school to visit her grandmother in Agbozome. The deceased has been identified as Gloria Segoe, a student of Keta Business Senior High School (SHS). Preliminary investigations have established that she went to Kasoa to visit her boyfriend instead of her grandmother. Public Relations Officer of the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS), DOII Desmond Ackah, confirmed the incident. DOII Ackah stated that the details surrounding the cause of death remain unclear. According to him, the GNFS received a distress call around 10:02 p.m. on Monday, June 23, 2025, and rushed to the scene to find the lifeless body in a stream. The body was retrieved at 10:42 p.m. and handed over to the police for further investigation. “This morning, we successfully reached her mother, who has since visited the Police Hospital and confirmed the identity of her daughter,” he said.
