Wendy Shay files police complaint after defamatory lesbian allegation

Ghanaian singer Wendy Shay has reported a viral video to the Ghana Police Service after a young man accused her of being involved in lesbianism.

In the video, the man claimed that Wendy Shay was in a sexual relationship with Tracy Shay, the young girl she adopted after she became popular for dancing to her song. He also made offensive statements, suggesting that a spiritualist told Wendy Shay to do inappropriate things with the girl.

Wendy Shay reacted quickly. She asked the public to help her find the man behind the video and offered a GHS 5,000 reward for anyone who could identify him.


In a statement posted online, she confirmed that she has officially filed a complaint with the police. She also revealed that the man has been traced to the United Arab Emirates, where he works with a construction company.

Her statement said: 

“I became aware of a false and very hurtful video circulating about me. The allegations are completely untrue and were made with malicious intent.

The matter has been reported to the Ghana Police Service, and investigations have begun. I have been informed that the person behind the video is currently in the UAE, and steps are being taken to ensure he is held accountable.

I am fully cooperating with the police and trust that this matter will be resolved quickly and fairly. Let us all continue to speak out against cyberbullying and online harassment.”

Police investigations are ongoing as the case develops.

 The plane took of from Nairobi's Wilson airport on Thursday afternoon. SIX people have died after a medical light aircraft crashed into a residential area in Kenya. Debris was seen strewn over the scene of the horrifying tragedy as mourners flocked to the scene.
